Elytra Training Tower: A quest!

I've build a tower at spawn up to the max height for people to jump from with an Elytra. I'm thinking it would be good if we had a community Elytra available there for people to try it without having to go find their own. So that it doesn't quickly wear out, we'd probably want both Mending and Unbreaking on it.

So, a quest for the community! We need:

• An Elytra
• An enchanted book with Unbreaking
• An enchanted book with Mending

It's probably a tall order, but if anyone felt like finding and donating any of the above, it would be great. I have an Elytra of my own, but I'm not willing to donate it. I might at some point go questing for a second to donate, but if someone beats me to it, I certainly won't have any issues with that.

There are some cool examples of Elytra courses out there that might be fun to build. I liked this one:


That said, if we're gonna build anything big like this we should move it out away from town and connect a nether tunnel to get there.

that course looks wicked JD. I'm interested in finding Elytra, also the purple coral, I'm not exactly sure how the island jumping and end portals work, and I'm afraid to try it -_-;;

So, I did find a community Elytra. Now I just have to deal with the fact that I'm at -4671x1645 in The End. At least I brought an Ender Chest, so even if I don't make it back it should be safe.


I'm thinking I won't actually make it available until we have, at the unbreaking at the very least, and preferably mending as well.

I don't think I've got quite enough OCD to make an Elytra course like the one posted above, but if someone else wants to make it, feel free.

But I'm with Snidley, how does someone even go about finding their own? Simply travel across The End and hope to get lucky by finding an End Ship?

That pretty much sums it up. Go to The End, throw an Ender Pearl into one of the three portals that opened when we killed Ender Dragons, then go find an unexplored section of The End. It took me about an hour and a half to find a ship yesterday. The first three End Cities I found didn't have a ship, so try not to get too frustrated!

Bring the following (I just put that list together by memory, so there might be something I didn't think of):

• Full Iron armor at least, Diamond is better
• A pumpkin
• A bow
• Arrows
• Ender Pearls (One for outbound, one for return, more is better for safety)
• Ender Chest (to put the Elytra in when you find it so you don't lose it if you die)
• Full stack of food (more if you intend to sprint very much)
• Sword/Axe/Shovel/Pickaxe
• Wood
• Spare Iron
• Cobblestone or another building material (you can harvest End Stone if you run out)

Don't bring anything that you can't stand to lose, because you might die in the middle of nowhere or possibly even fall into the void. Also, don't place the Ender Chest until you find the Elytra, because if you break it without Silk Touch you won't get it back.

Well, The Elytra tower is built if anyone wishes to try it out. I need to work on a course for it, and of course create a landing area (areas?) where you can be safe if its night and there are angry mobs about. We dont want someone dieing and losing the community elytra.


I have to thank Flyte for the awesome nether tunnel/rail he created, its not quite finished but it shouldnt be difficult to get it to the final destination.

If you wish to check it out head to the 5 fish farm and then head off to your left (North) and you will see it on your right side. I will try to get some signs and portal marking up soon so its easier to find on the map.
