Re: Counter-Strike on the Ville?
Perhaps. I'm restraining myself from suggesting some of my favorite maps from my CS:S days, this is one of them, but most of which happen to be texture maps.
I understand the dislike for them, especially by mappers who really do put work into making their maps look nice but...eye candy doesn't make a good map, functionality and playability do, and good looks are just a bonus. I'm of the opinion that if a map plays really well (like my all-time favorite GG map, texture_city), it doesn't matter how it looks.

No, I know that one from GG. Monach is the map I was talking about.

That was one of my favorite custom from the old RPG server. The map aside from being well textured is very large, which I think helps with RPG. Some of the GG maps and the orange maps might be a little too constraining IMO.
I just played Congo with the bots and noticed some missing textures for the custom trees. Might have to look into that, but that one is a large map, or shall I say tall map.

[/quote]Speaking as a half-inspiring mapper (In the fact that I enjoy making maps when I feel like it), I find orange/texture maps to be incredibly lazy. To make a good layout and fix bugs is only *maybe* 20-30% of the actual work in making a map - the rest of that time is spent making the map look good through texturing, displacements, skyboxes, props, etc.
Case in point - If I so desired, I could release the one map I'm working on now as an orange map, but instead I'm working a couple of hours a week to spend the time to make the map look attractive.

And I understand all that, I really do. I'm just saying that doesn't make them any less fun to play on.

Re: Counter-Strike on the Ville?
Took beetlesmod off and replaced it with ManiMod. Green player models fixed so Stealth upgrade works correctly.
Has mapvote etc etc. Deathbeams I'll probably turn off.
