The Guardian Farm or DIE MY PRETTIES!

Post by c4ridw3n » Wed Sep 24, 2014 11:12 am

So, since I got to take part in this massive project with ADevilishPotato (read: Evil Fish Punishing Genius)- I have some screenshots of the build.
Please feel free to use this for xp or blocks. There is an enchanting table and anvil under the farm... there are chests FULL of prismarine shards and
crystals and Fish.. More fish than we could ever eat. Ever.

HUGELY IMPORTANT: When using XP mode, after you get your XP, flip the switch back to grinder mode. The entity count climbs to about 300 after 5 minutes
of idling.

This is super cool, but could you share the location? I assume it's easily accessible from the Nether hub?

Plinko,

Signs will go up today- but from spawn, you take the rail out to the sky islands for ADP and cari.
Once at the end of the rail, take the right door, go through the second door, continue straight down the andesite hallway until you come to the stairs down
with the green hedge. Take those stairs down and enter the portal on the right at the bottom of the stairs.

This is the main area. Steps to use the Farm-

Go under the spawner. Collect items from the chest as they drop.
For XP- bring a friend... One person will go back through the Portal and go down the ladder directly next to it, that is where fishies will come through.
The OTHER person will flip switch to XP mode and then exit the portal. Go UP stairs and make a u turn at the top- ascend the double stairwell and enter
that Portal at the top. Be careful.. you are 150 blocks up. This is the optimal fish spawn location. Both of you idle for about 5 minutes. The person
on the bottom then tosses a potion at the fish and immediately swap to looting sword to get more loot (sword has to be in hand when fish die.. using your
number key to insta swap helps). Collect XP. Turn off Grinder or Swap spots with your friend.

Failing to turn off XP mode could be very bad and will likely crash the server.

In no way was this responsible for any crashes that anyone has seen the server have in the past few days.... :shifty:

Might be worth sticking a sign near the exit from the area in the nether, something like "Did you return the farm to Grinder Mode?" as a reminder.

I think that is a fine idea, Alizee! Signage is definitely a priority ;)

Can some sort of Redstone timer be built to flip back to Grinder mode every 15 minutes or something?

well if no one is in the area no mobs will spawn, and if several people are on the server and the person doesn't have a buddy, chances are someone will enter the nether, so the only real danger is very late night when there is 1 person on...but I will see what I can do.

Could make a system where you stand on a pressure plate in the afk spot to keep it in XP mode, and when you leave the spot it reverts to grinder. That might be easiest, if you're going to make it automatic.
