TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
Pines Redstone place got a major face-lift tonight. Be sure to check it out.
We need some more stuff at spawn.
Also I feel like I want to try and get Alizée Fan enough quartz to do his columns in quartz. This is unfortunately 142.5 stacks of quartz blocks. Anyone else want to help dig?

I'll help gather quartz. Also, I was thinking about a Farmers' Market at spawn...did I already mention this? What do you think?

Yeah I've opened up a lot more to the things being built at spawn. The only rules I think is I want the field to stay mostly open and the buildings to not be too big or look bad.

I'm pretty sure Al said something about there not being enough quartz on the server to do soGizanked wrote: Also I feel like I want to try and get Alizée Fan enough quartz to do his columns in quartz. This is unfortunately 142.5 stacks of quartz blocks. Anyone else want to help dig?
Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
Maybe not enough to do the whole thing. I just want to help him get enough so the columns can be fluted.

Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
I think that the map that Flash is showing as of February 13th is actually much later than that because there are details on there that didn't get added to USV till this week or even yesterday. Might need to change the date on that.
Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
Yeah if you click on the house logo at spawn it tells you the day it was generated.

Ya, it takes so long to render that I often forget to go back and update the date in this thread!LadeeeDuke wrote:I think that the map that Flash is showing as of February 13th is actually much later than that because there are details on there that didn't get added to USV till this week or even yesterday. Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
TL;DR: I would like to build three farms (slime, villager, iron) en route to hooking my new base up to the rail system (needs lots of iron).
1. Slime farm
The slime farm is technically optional, but I figure that having tons of slime for sticky pistons and leads and magma cream would generally be useful. My intent is to build a chunk-based slime farm like so:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIc9DNNZt0U
I might do an item lift to bring the loot back up to the surface... a slime well, if you will. If anybody has already located a slime chunk area that would be in-bounds to build such a farm on, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll keep digging around my neck of the woods until one crops up.
2. Villager farm
The iron golem farm requires lots of villagers. Hence, I'll need to build a little villager farm to supply the golem farm. My intent is to use this design:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlk-4jc8bsk
And I -might- build it on-site where the golem farm will be, just to make it easier to transport the villagers to their final positions (I hear that herding villagers can be a painful experience, and I'll already need to herd three villagers into the breeder to get it started). Any additional thoughts on placing this somewhere that would be convenient for everyone would be welcome, as would any suggestions on ideal villager transport mechanisms.
3. Iron golem farm
My intent is to use this design:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFaCNsuD01k
Because it self-repairs the overlapping village groups, and thus does not need to be built in spawn blocks or use block keepalive tricks. Again, if there is a convenient location people want this monstrosity (it MUST be away from all other wooden doors by 64+ blocks, and itself takes up a little over 64 blocks because of its satellite facility), let me know. Otherwise, I'll just plop it down out in my far-off neck of the woods.
4. Rail connection!
I will presumably have all the iron I will ever need, ever, including enough to build out the ridiculously long line to my little hut out in the middle of nowhere.
So, with all that laid out, any thoughts? Comments? I know this is a little overboard to go, just to get enough iron for a railway, but I figure I may as well go big...

Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
Just be sure you read up on the snapshots before you put too much work into things. Be sure you make a design that works with 1.8 as that is set to be released in may I think.

Re: TV5 PurpleCraft organizing and Google Map
Hmm. Point taken. Villager breeding has changed, and so has village formation. I think the changes to the latter specifically break the iron trench (doors link to closest instead of oldest village, iron trench makes use of the link-to-oldest mechanic).
I'll see what I can do with slimes, in anycase.

Um, I am building (slowly) a Hedgemaze near spawn, beside Stevos Awesome Theatre and Petting Zoo. Oh, and its not a petting zoo, I just like heavy petting while I am there.

Are we still gathering Quartz for Alizee? I'll be on tomorrow (thursday) evening if anyone is up for a quartz run.

I have a very large portion on the nether containing quartz right next to me. I can gather some too. I'm looking for glass or sand myself.
