Tekkit reset?

Several of y'all expressed a desire to reset the map on the Tekkit server. Please share your thoughts on if we should erase the map and start over or wait a little longer.

Now that we can get our hands on Uranium, i think i could get a little bit more out of the server.

I will not object either way, initially i thought there was some corruption caused by the version update...but it was user end. The big reason I would endorse a reset is, it would bring people back. Really no good "no reset" reasons though...it will happen eventually, anyway

I've already talked to flash and said that I wouldn't oppose a reset if the majority agree but honestly if what Captain keys says is right, I can "soft reset" the server by creating a new age which is isolated from the rest of the server (by the "disabling" charm) with a draw like making it a skylands server and maybe bring people back.

I personally kinda don't want a reset because my collection of mystcraft pages which took a lot of time to assemble would be gone.

That being said, mystcraft worlds now don't produce instability if their a blank age so I might try to settle in a random age if a reset hits.

making a new world isnt the issue, we dont need new space...either reset or dont...a new world is the absolute worst answer...on that note, we prob should have an op go through and get rid of some/most/all of the worlds

This may be worth doing. I'd hope it helps, because right now the server seems to be crashing a decent amount.

I derive my greatest pleasure not from having the stuff I want, but from the quest to build or acquire said things. I would support a reset - it would give me a good reason to figure out why Tekkit hasn't been working, and get back in the game. Even before my current problems arose, the server was a bit clunky what with unnecessary generators, ages, machinery etc.

i would be fine delaying a reset, if we first delete most/all of the pocket worlds

Aye. Either way, we need to nuke most of the alternate dimensions. Also, make sure there are no auto-spawners running - we know what those bloody things do to servers (besides being almost entirely pointless).

Ya I gotta admit 90% off the worlds I make are unused due how mystcraft hides it's pages. It doesn't help most of them have some sort of instability and/or are mostly consumed by some world eating matter.

Yeah I am in favor of a reset because I can't seem to stay on the server for longer than 20 minutes at a time before it crashes on me (NOT MY FAULT!!!)

Restart means restart - clean from the beginning. Nothing is kept (nor should it be). As cool as the power system is, think how much cooler it can be if it is created again from scratch with the knowledge you've gained, and the new systems that are available.

we should almost consider disabling mystcraft i think...that would help immensely with stability and longevity...see if they address it in another update. It is awesome for single player...or a more robust server...but i dont think the current one can handle the load...remember, each world is loaded when there is someone on the server
