Help me pick my new Headphones!
Hey gents! My nice Sennheiser earbuds have broken and I'm in the market for new ones. In-ear buds are what I'm after - I already have headphones - I just need some portable buds with good sound. I'm a little pre-disposed to Sennheiser but if you know something better in the $80-$200 range that would be great!

Re: Help me pick my new Headphones!
I don't recommend Razer Carcharias or Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 with amp.
The razor mainly because of build quality. I had two sets and on both sets the tiny set screw stripped making the headphones fall apart. Neither of them lasted a year; too bad because the sound quality was great even though you needed PC software to run them properly.
Turtle Beach build quality has actually been excellent, but there is a known issue with some "whining" in them. You don't notice it when there is sound, but in silent periods, or if you watch movies for instance, you definitely notice it.

Re: Help me pick my new Headphones!
The Turtle Beach set I have requires an extra USB connection for power for some reason (maybe because they were advertised as Xbox headphones); if you're looking for portability, I wouldn't go with those.
If you don't need a microphone with your headphones and prefer to stay with earbuds, Bose makes a pair of sport headphones for about $120, for $30 more you can get a mic with them as well. I don't know about this specific pair, but going by other Bose products, their headphones and speakers are often very good quality and well worth the price.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

I've been thinking about going with Bose - they have really poor customer service though. Reading reviews, it looks like the quality and care that goes into the around-ear and on-ear models didn't transfer over too well for their in-ear products.

I just have bad luck with breaking in-ear headphones. The most expensive in-ear headphones I've bought were $20.Soup Nazi wrote:7 dollars?NerevarineKing wrote:http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RPHJE12 ... ds=earbuds

Final Countdown:
I'm split between the AKG K 350, a steal at $80 and made by a pro audio company, or the more expensive Shure SE215 at around $120. What caught my eye with the Shure model was the replaceable cable, something I think we all agree is usually the first to go on earbuds.

Re: Help me pick my new Headphones!
So, I have a set of Bose in ear head phones, I may have broken the cord 3 times, but I keep fixing it. Not because they are of top notch sound quality, but because of comfort. The typical in ear headphone style, that suction cup type deal, I find to be incredibly uncomfortable. Partially because I have short ear canals. The Bose in ear headphones have been the only style that I can wear for hours on end. They may be $100 and have the sound quality of something that is $30-50, but I don't care. The soft silicon bit that sits in your ear is incredibly comfortable and they do a really good job of cancelling out any outside noise.

You like Sennheiser?

Just got a pair for my birthday. Good sound reproduction. Sturdy. I have another pair of Senn's for exercising. These definitely have better sound, but then again those are designed to be waterproof and such.

I have a pair of these!!!! Good choice I must say, and I really loved them. The asymmetric cord deal is kind of neat too. Unfortunately the cord has gone bad, and one of the drivers went dead. I've had them for probably 2 years, and they served me well.frostdillicus wrote:You like Sennheiser?

I have these earphones also. Use them when I run and they sound WAY better than the price suggests.
