Looking for IPSec Endpoint Router
Title pretty much says it all. We require a router that can act as an endpoint for an IPsec tunnel. Right now we are using a Cisco RV120W and it's a piece of garbage. I would like to avoid Cisco's consumer products as they have been terrible so far.
I would prefer it to have Gbit ports. Wireless would be nice, but we can always get an AP if it means getting a good, stable, easy to configure router. I have tried looking at reviews for this online, but am finding it impossible unless all I want is to look at "review" sites that are nothing more than advertising traps.
I'm not really a networking guy, so any help that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking for IPSec Endpoint Router
For home or office? Does it have to be IPsec or would OpenVPN work?

IPsec. We need an active IPsec tunnel for a VOIP phone. It's for a remote office location.

Gotcha, I'm of no help in that case, sorry. (I'm running on OpenVPN tunnel at home using an ASUS RT-N16 with Tomato (Toastman) firmware and it is awesome.)

I'm pretty sure that if all reviews of routers are to be believed there is no such thing as a router that actually works.

Re: Looking for IPSec Endpoint Router
This is an interesting video detailing the workings of IPSec routers. It also sheds some light on advanced tunneling, if anyone's unclear as to what Flash and frostdillicus are talking about.
I have no idea what Flash and frostdillicus are talking about.

That is why I'm such a big fan of custom firmware. The modern Tomato variants are awesome but don't have IPsec (although I'm gonna bring it up in the developer forums).frostdillicus wrote:I'm pretty sure that if all reviews of routers are to be believed there is no such thing as a router that actually works.

We use Netscreen 5gt's. They are end of life though. I think the newer ones are now Netscreen 5XT.

Re: Looking for IPSec Endpoint Router
So the Tomato firmware folks have IPsec working but it requires a big hassle to setup. It won't be integrated into the GUI for a while so my setup won't be able to help you.
