I'm assuming he wont be overclocking simply from lack of knowledge. He really isn't a computer geek like me or any of you.

Overclocking the Sandy Bridge CPUs is basically as easy as pressing a button. The new point and click bios makes it a snap. It also only engages the OC settings when needed (i.e. gaming).

No point in overclocking. My I7 -860 hardly hits 40% in BF3

Well then get a H67 mobo and an i5 2500 (non k) if you're sure he won't want to OC.

@bullet: your 57xx is bottlenecking you in bf3.

Thanks to all of you, probably saved me 2 hours or so that I didn't have. I think he'll be going with Clay's build, with a few supplements.
