Re: PC Problem
not quite sure what you mean. is it that it is looking to startup on cd only?
you can set the bios to not have cd boot up. or did the cd in there have the bootup files on it?
go into bios and set your bootup to HDD and not cd.
any other info would be helpful

Re: PC Problem
if you want to change the boot order, or have the pc not boot up on cd enter the bios by selecting the delete key during bootup.
It depends on what kind of pc you have. It might be F1 or F5. See if it tells how to enter your bios when you fist start it up. Sometimes it says what key to use on the first screen you see.
Step 2-when you get in find the boot order. from here you should be able to find and set the order. Then save and exit.

Re: PC Problem
what bios screen comes up?
different bios require different keys to enter them.
worse comes to worse, review your motherboard's manual. They usually have a bios section in the manual that should help you.

Re: PC Problem
even if CD is listed first to boot from, it will start on the HDD eventually.
Re: PC Problem
so unfortunatly my problem hasnt fully gone away ... if i start it up an dont press anything it will go through the dmi pools stuff then get to boot from cd and freeze but it i enter boot menu when i am given the option it will open up boot menu for half a second then start up normally and pc is then fine so what i want to know is there away to load this boot menu when the pc has loaded up and logged onto my area? as this seems the only way i will be able to open it to see the settings

Re: PC Problem
can you list the type of PC we are talking about. Name/Model/Operating system and I can help you get into the bios settings to change them.

open your case and take a photo of the motherboard.
upload it and we might be able to tell what it is so we can better help you.

Re: PC Problem
Seems like a firmware issue here. Those are the worst. Buy that, I mean it might be an issue with the BIOS itself. Flashing the BIOS is hard. Does your brother have any input?
