Email without a million restrictions :(

Post by TACOBELL » Sun Oct 30, 2011 12:58 pm

I need help finding some email service, or something else, I can use to send myself files from work. I make anti-malware tools and other things. Yahoo and gmail both detect them as potential trojans and rootkits and block them. I cannot use dropbox at work as we do not have admin permission on our PC's to install it. Also no access to the USB ports so copying them to a flash is out of the question as well.

.Zip doesnt work btw already tried it :(

anyone know of anything else I can use? I can teamviewer my home pc and transfer them but doing that daily isnt something that I should be doing at work as remote accessing home PC's isnt allowed either... lol they make it nice and hard to get my own files huh?

Does gmail read into .7z files? You can always put it in an encrypted .7z file and see if gmail would spot it. You're still limited in size with it though.

how limited are we talking? Gmails limits or is there another limit for .7z files?

if its just gmails limit I am fine with spamming my gmail with emails

I think it's like either 5 or 25 mb size limit on attachments, but I can't remember. I've used 7zip to zip up 4+ gb movie files and break them into archives so my FAT32 flash drive could store them.

Can't you upload files via their web site?

Alternatively, Amazon Cloud Drive: https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/learnmore

@ dog we do but I cant upload anything to the ftp :( and cant go to dropbox or amazon with our dumb webfilter. lol

im gonna give 7z a try at work today. Ill also poke around some others sites. I might just proxy my PC at work just to get around that filter. I could enable myself as admin in CMD but then if they found out I would be busted.

Have you tried not emailing them to yourself? Make an email, save it as a Draft, go home, open the draft and get the attachment.

What about Springpad or Evernote? I'm assuming they are filtered too but if they aren't they should be able to do what you ask.. even google docs. If you have access to gmail you proably have access to that.

Are you writing batch files? It is something where you could just save a text version, e-mail yourself the text and then convert it at the office?

You could also try just changing the file extension to something else, and changing it back at home.

Dropbox. Its a 2GB free storage and you access it from both points via Windows Explorer. It's awesome. Especially if you are working on a project with multiple people and don't want to lug around or risk losing a flash drive. Everything is done from either Windows Explorer or from their website.

Blah, I think you need to reread the original post. :)
