The problems with mine before I sent it in:
  • Headphones port broke when I plugged something in, it took the mic port out with it, unusable
Slight overheating problem, cooling pad fixed
    AC adapter shorted out, unusable

At that point, I sent it in. After they send it back, these happened within a month.
  • Overheating problem gets worse, cooling pad needed to stop it from shutting down
Power plugin on the laptop itself breaks, forcing me to destroy an AC adapter to make it work until I got it fixed

My dad fixed the power plugin problem, he told me whatever did the soldering in the first place was terrible and he did a better job. His job is Software engineer. And I still need to do something about the overheating problem. I shouldn't be able to feel the heat through the keyboard while a cooling pad is running on it.

In a related note, my cooling no longer works.

My laptop is so terrible that it broke a 70-dollar cooling pad.

From the pictures I've seen it looks like there's a vent in the back right.
I've got the G51vx model and there's a big intake underneath and a 3"x.5" vent on the left side.

[edit] the pic on newegg clearly shows a decent sized outflow vent in the back.
Your intake vent is probably on the bottom, like on my laptop. Did you check the flow direction on your laptop cooler? It's important that it be blowing air up into the intake vent.

Also since it's got a vent on the bottom, it's important to only use on hard surfaces, with no cloth coverings, so as not to obscure the vent.

Good news. My cooling pad wasn't broken after all.

Bad news. My laptop is still broken. I'm going to be sending it back to the manufacturer on Monday (since it's still under warranty) and hopefully when I get it back, nothing will be burnt out and my cooling pad will keep it that way.
