Re: Weekly TV2 seed nights?
I am truly glad to see TV2 back on its feet now all we need is a new rotation.

Without fail, every time I'm on tv2, as soon as a critical mass of players arrive... someone changes it to wacky races.

Re: Weekly TV2 seed nights?
What I've seen with Wacky Races is that if a team sets out to win, hard, it will do so, with explosive spam, Heavy spam, or even minisentry spam (last night we saw all three). Maybe the other team "figures it out" too, and there's a bit of a contest, but otherwise the result is that we then have another 20 minutes of various massacres while the map plays (un)fitting music at us.
Not to dampen anyone's fun... but I don't think we need five rounds of it.

We may wish to start using balloon race to break the monotony as most people haven't seen it. Also with balloon races you are at least guaranteed to catch up at every check point.

I go with option three: don't play either map.

Re: Weekly TV2 seed nights?
I actually prefer Balloon Race v2 over v3... v3's built-in handicap on the leading team (requiring both balloons to be at the CPs before either one can advance) slows down the game too much.
I'd "start" 2 with Labor (sure it's old, but it plays well even with fewer than five players on a team) or, for a change of pace, Vikings.

I love how we end up going totally goofy and silly as soon as we get a good crowd going

Re: Weekly TV2 seed nights?
Actually, though I did initiate the vote to wacky_races, I would really prefer that we separate custom map nights from shenanigans maps because the crossover appeal is not complete.
If we schedule a night with wacky and/or balloon races, falling and meleebarn type maps, would anyone object to said separation so we can focus only on "normal" gametype custom maps on Wednesday nights?

I think it's a good idea. Wacky races loses its charm after awhile and falling gets old really fast (at least for me). "Normal" custom map nights would be a lot more fun in the long run.Plinko wrote:If we schedule a night with wacky and/or balloon races, falling and meleebarn type maps, would anyone object to said separation so we can focus only on "normal" gametype custom maps on Wednesday nights?

Re: Weekly TV2 seed nights?
It's a frequent misconception that "Customs" server is synonymous with "screw around" server. I happen to generally like gimmicky maps myself, but they definitely are their own seperate thing. I endorse having real customs seperate from wacky customs for general purposes.
Wacky Races, Lolcano, Happycow, etc are a good set, but some people dislike 'em. Wacky Races is really just a primitive PLR, Happycow is a PL with a goofy premise, Lolcano is mostly cosmetically unusual - the differences are minor from a gameplay perspective, but I'll be the first to acknowledge "feel" matters.

People may think I'm weird but this is my absolute favorite map in all of TF2.Supreveio wrote:I think Desert Fortress should probably be taken off the rotation
