L4D2 Custom Crap

You can get the L4D2 Add-On support by going right clicking the steam icon and selecting "Games" then from the top bar View > Tools > L4D2 add-on Support"

(This step is important DO ME FIRST!)


Follow the instructions listed above and install the following maps.

Stevo is going to toss em up on the servers so this weekend we are going to get some custom games going, see how things play out.


You also need to download these 2 files and place them in your add-ons folder

OK quick update. First download the L4D2 addon support.

Have an updated version of Winrar.


Mass download all of those files and place them all into one folder and extract all the packs to that folder (extract here).


At this point you should have two folders (maps) and (addons).

You should also have several steam looking icons. Launch the steam icons individually to install, then copy and past the two folders into the

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead 2\


If it asks you to merge folders, yes.

For good measure i copy pasted both folders into

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead 2\addons\

Be ready this weekend!

so I have to install the L4D2 add on support from the tools tab, and then simply double click on the vpk's, right? if I place the vpks in the addons folder, do I need to click on them to install them? and if so, do I need to click on the l4d1assets and the l4d1extras vpks to install them as well?

These are all set up on the server. The L4D1 campaigns aren't advertising themselves for some reason, so lobbies won't work for those. I'm not sure what's up with that. You'll have to join the server and admin/supporter change the map to use the original L4D campaigns. The rest seem fine...

Download and install the L4D2 addon support then just use the Manual Install for easy mode

Manual Installation:
Place the .vpk file into your L4D addons folder.
Installation paths may differ based on your system configuration.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead 2\addons\

I got it working played some no mercy single player just now to test. I haven't played the l4d campaigns yet as I never owned the game, so I'm new to these, very exciting

I'll try to hop on with some of you guys, however I don't think I'm in the villuns steam group...I think I'll go find it now.
