[Custom Campaigns] City 17
So, has anyone had the chance to check out City 17 yet? It's a reproduction of City 17 from Half Life 2: Episode 1.
Of the custom campaigns that Valve has been promoting on their blog, I'd have to say that this one is the most polished. Then again, since it's a reproduction, it's kinda hard to mess up given the pathing, look and feel have already been established. That aside, I think it was well made.
The few scripted moments that are in it (I won't spoil anything) were handled well. It's been a while since I played through Ep. 1 but everything was smooth and even made me remember when I did play it last. There are definitely a few "Oh yeah" moments where I had flashbacks to the original.
Valve touts it as a good campaign for Versus as well. I can see how it would be fun. There are definitely some really choice spots for Special Infected to take advantage of.
Thoughts? I'll post more as people play it and have comments.

I've got it downloaded, would be happy to give it a try in a campaign with some Villuns
---Edit---
Bah, it appears the free host for the files has a corrupted version - it launches, but is severely broken. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

Re: [Custom Campaigns] City 17
I played a bit of it last night, the bots have some pathing issues with the second stage with the multi-stage alarm event, they just have a hard time getting up the narrow walkways and it makes that section really hard with 3 bots where I imagine it would be relatively easy with one or none.
I was just about done with the third stage when I had to quit due to impending bedtime. One thing I noticed was the common infected on this one were by far the most sensible of any of the promoted custom campaigns seen so far, there weren't endless random hordes for a change, though some places they spawn from the sky within your sight which is kinda strange.
I want to get all the way through it, can we get a group together tonight, you think?

Yeah, after a little bit I went ahead and turned the alarm off then went down to clean up the mess (2 of the 3 bots were incapped).Plinko wrote:I played a bit of it last night, the bots have some pathing issues with the second stage with the multi-stage alarm event, they just have a hard time getting up the narrow walkways and it makes that section really hard with 3 bots where I imagine it would be relatively easy with one or none.
I'd be up for it. I think I'll upload the zip file regardless in case anyone else has issues with it.

Definitely a fun map, and a very well made port. It'll be fun for versus - we need to set that up some time

I ran through it real quick on single player - normal. Pretty fun!
More zombie chow than normal, which is fun on easy settings.
