Hey guys, as some of y'all might have seen, I've tried independently on several occasions to organize little informal CS:S fun nights on the second Sunday of the month with marginal success. November went off great with a full server for a couple hours while December fell a little flat.
My idea is to just give everyone a little change of pace from TF2 and play a game I imagine many of us spent a lot of time playing in the past. This is definitely very informal with no sign-ups or anything required, open to anyone who stumbles across the server. I'd be happy with it occurring every month but I could see an every-other approach working as well. Obviously it would take a back seat to any other more formal event happening at The Ville if the dates would overlap.
I am hoping to get a little support spreading the word. Since it is a very low key recurring event I'm not sure if it needs a huge front page post every time or a giant poster to support it. I was actually thinking the most effective advertising might be to just create it as an "event" in the official Ville Steam community group. This way all 1,200 of the members, even those who don't visit the website, would get notification at the start time and maybe stop by to play. This could be very helpful since not all of the regulars here play CS:S.
So that's my idea. Let me know what y'all think, I appreciate any feedback.
