Dog, have you made any changes to the setup for the server. I might not be able to try it out until Saturday night.

Nope.
It's running in versus mode for now, until I fully test it out.

The closing of the Aussie server is a sad sad day for Australia and New Zealand , playing in this co op mode on the aussie server was the most fun I have ever had of any game I have played online. Sadly going to the new server (wherever it is) I have a ping of 380 which is unplayable . We had a regular group of players who came on each night after tea and had a great time ,it was only last thursday when one of my friends could not even get on as the server was full.
What would need to be done to get another server going down here in Australia ,do we need a more friendly hosting company , is it a money problem , please let us know and we will see what can be done about it.
Cheers
Freddie

It's not a question of money, but the server.
Hypernia run Windows servers and they even installing a SourceMod extension means sending in a ticket, which takes time.
So I made the point of switching to Gameservers, with whom we rent many servers.

The trouble is GS don't have many Aussie servers and you can never order them.

Having said that, I can get them to email me when an Australian server is available.

Also, I'm a little dubious about the numbers of players in Aus/NZ. The server was often empty during the early afternoon...

What if the Aussies/New Zealanders, whomever in that region of the world, bought a server and found a flexible and reliable host. Could they then have a L4DOD server?

Nope.
The plugin is a private plugin and the source code is not available.

Because of the SourceMod GPL, if it is distributed outside TheVille, then by right, I have to supply to source code. And since that won't happen, the only way that can happen is if it is a Ville server controlled by us with no outside access.
Besides, with the constant updates, it would be out of date in a week
:D

Well Fudge.

Could TheVille buy a server in say Japan or in Singapore? Maybe Hong Kong? I am trying to look out for the people in that region of the world.
