dod_timberland_b3 by Formologic23

This map takes place on a runway cut out of the heavy woods. Flag map with 5 caps, 2 being doubles (2nd and 4th). Pretty straight foward, use the trees for cover. Team work definitly needed to all-cap. I was pretty hopeful about this map but it seems to induce a deathmatch feel, DoDS style. A nice change from the building/alley structures. Dispite all the trees it seems to maintain smooth fps throughout. Fans of dod_pacific will appreciate this map.

Well, on my nightly forage for customs, I found two.

dod_submarine_base
Interesting map as you tend to spend most of your time swimming around the water, meaning it's not always easy to shoot! It's a 1 2 3 2 1 flag cap map.

dod_canyon
Set in a valley, with side tunnels, this is a spawn camper's delight. You are directly across from the other team's spawn. I think if we were going to use this map, we'd have to increase the spawn protection just for this map :D

dod_domestic_disturbance from Brawler2006


At first glance this map looks pretty small. But the two houses are full halls, ladder, stairs, doors and windows (which break like the glass in CSS). 75% of the map is what I consider close quarters - auto weapons territory. An interesting tunnel system with the middle 2man flag in the tunnel, Multiple entrances/exits and route combinations to flank the enemy. 1st and 2nd flags are in the house, in the basement and the 2nd story. The large yard seperating the two houses does provide some attraction for the long range weapons. Sitting on the roof of each house is an AA you have to det to win - best of both worlds. The map holds up well technically and has been playtested as this is the final bug free version... Ive been waiting for it. We should definitly test this one! Med sized map good for maybe up to 12v12 (16mb bsp)

Domestic disturbance looks like another 2fort variant. Might be fun. I'm really getting in to the realistic maps though.

I tried out dod_flugplatz for source...


The layout is exactly the same (with the execption of minor things) BUT, The map has not been optimized at all. Any time I got near a fire, the movement chopped up so bad I could barely move around.

Dont know what that would do to the server, I wouldnt put it on tho... its too bad :cry: looks super fun

dod_isigny by LionelQueripel


This map is loosely based on the old 1.3 classic Caen. Its not a direct port (none of em are) but its layout is a sourcified representation of caen (and thats what the author was trying to do) 6 single man caps beg for a fast paced flag-athon. Tons of MG/sniper spots are available to take out that guy who thinks he's a one man army. Numerous walls to blow and fire/electric alley along with the Citreon statue in the middle give that Caen feel. FPS held steady on my machine and havent heard of any major bugs (this is not a final release and there are spots where you can get "outside" of the map and on roofs n such) File size weighs in at just over 24mb unzipped


I honestly think there will be a better version of caen in the near future, but this will have to tide us over - it looks FUN enjoy!
