I'm curious.. With the game running, try CTL-ALT-DEL, look
at your processes and see if there are any other pgms running
that's eating up processor time. If you see one that's unfamiliar,
you could stop that process and see if it makes a diff. It won't
hurt anything to try. :)

Nope, it find files of individual programs that are all over your drive and tries to put them togther for faster loading.
If you click analyze and see lots of red, your drive needs defragging!

Useful if you want to see what programs are running....

Some of it...perhaps.
You may have other programs running at the same time. Some get called without you needing/wanting them

Here is a pic of mine:

Most of the background programs running on my machine are Creative drivers for the sound card hehe.
vptray is my Norton running etc...

if i get problems involving running slow i goto www.pcpitstop.com and run there tests, i once got a virus that my anti virus could not find because it had got into my anti virus and spyware programs and basicly told them it was fine and not a virus, but there anti virus picked it up, has its not actually on my machine so hadnt been conned into thinking the virus was fine.

they also have a bandwidth test in there full scan feature. if yoiu have no luck its worth a try

Rohan, wait, there is one more drastic measure

Re-install windows and everything you have....yes its a HUGE pain to do, but it is the only surefire way to get rid of all malicious software on your computer and overall boosts performance to back to brand new status. I do it at least once a year to keep my comp running like new. Takes me about 7-8 hours to uninstiall and re-install everything (due to all of the restarts) but in my opinion its worth it.

I suspect your ping might be high because of a bad hop. I have that right now for TV2, TV3 and TV6 where I'm getting 150+ ping.

I suggest you download HLSW (if you don't have it already). Add the IPs of each of the servers of theville (from front page) and then right click and go traceroute and it will show you all the computers your machine is linking to. There may be one that is screwing up....as in my case right now.

Ain't lot you can do if that is the case....
