Smissmas 2013 Update
It's finally here: The Smissmas Update
Biggest news? They tweaked more items:
Battalion's Backup:
+20 maximum health on wearer
Concheror:
+2 health regenerated per second on wearer
Crit-A-Cola:
Reduced the damage taken penalty after drinking from +25% to +10%
Diamondback:
Also grants critical shots on successful backstabs
Flying Guillotine:
Can now be launched with either primary or secondary fire
Short Circuit:
Increased attack speed
Now only uses only 5 metal per shot
Now only targets buildings and players in the player's view (if they're in range)
Soda Popper:
Hype no longer grants Mini-Crit boost
Now activates Hypemode with alt-fire to enable the user to do up to 5 extra midair jumps
And most importantly:
Hat and Misc slots are now generic Cosmetic slots

"So what have you been up to, man? Haven't seen you in so long!"
"Ah, you know how it is. Doin' a lot of side projects, some consulting, maybe a little freelance... Those are words that people say when they haven't actually been doing anything, right?"

Quite a few buffs.
Flying Guillotine:
Can now be launched with either primary or secondary fire.
So this is basically what? Throw it from left or right hand. Similar to how you can punch with the heavy?

I think it's like that so you don't necessarily have to press two different attack keys to hit a Sandman ball and follow up with the Flying Guillotine.

Re: Smissmas 2013 Update
After fooling around as an Engineer, I can say when they said "increased firing speed" on the Short Circuit, they really meant it
It's pretty much a Flamethrower for the Engineer (in an almost literal sense) for how fast it fires and deals damage, and how close you have to be to actually do damage to players.
The only real differences are that it doesn't set people on fire and you don't have to time your air blasts to troll enemy Soldiers and Demomen. Just hold down M1 and you'll do massive damage and delete their projectiles from existence at the same time.

Re: Smissmas 2013 Update
Thanks for posting that. I was curious about the Short Circuit firing speed increase. I just jumped in tf2 to check it out and you weren't kidding, firing speed is fast. Pretty much a forward facing projectile shield, chewing up multiple nades, stickies and rockets until your metal runs out.
Re: Smissmas 2013 Update
It deals damage so you'll get an invisible one to flicker at the very least. It should not be a new jarate/fire though. You've already got spuf crying bloody murder on this demoman "nerf" lets hope they didn't give them another. Heck I love the idea of giving the engi another viable secondary. That thing was trash when it first came out and now I can see a lot of uses out of it. It will certainly go on one of my sets.Plas wrote:Also interested to know if it can be used for spy detection.
The diamondback is probably my favorite spy gun in the aesthetics department. Did they ever make it so much more functional now... Maybe too much so.

Re: Smissmas 2013 Update
You know, I had already thought that the backup banner became slightly OP when they changed how it builds rage, adding an extra 20 health to that seems a bit much.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

I'm noticing the images on the bullion board are all form the first round of the class-specific updates.
Could we be going to get another round of class updates?

Soda popper can be used with bonk... this has just made CP maps ridiculous. Trufax
